Well, my copy just arrived today. And let me tell you, it is awesome. It's like playing a totally different game. Although set in Liberty City, it looks nothing like it did in previous GTA games.

It has a 10 on IGN, so ya know I ain't trippin'

UHMEEEEBA

Tyrannosaurus Reich

DMK

The opening made me LOL.

One of the most entertaining opening so far in the series.

Gameplays been top notch so far.

Jesuszilla

Seriously I think the only thing that would complete it is a God Mode cheat or something. Other than that, it has everything you could want. It's hilarious when you hit a certain pole at high speed to have the car actually curve around it and have you go flying out of the windshield, leaving a crack/blood spatter where you land.

DMK

I'm sure like GTA:SA was the cheats will flow out and after a month or so we'll have a large list of them.

Another fun thing is stealing cars and just waiting a few more seconds till they grab the door and drive off, swinging the pedestrian around like a reguler day ball and chain. Swing hard enough and you can roll'em under your car and squish'em.

I wonder what other small yet interesting things have been added.

Haha, I remember that mission where you had to steal this guy's car because he didn't pay Vlad. The guy grabbed onto the car, and as soon as I took off, WHAM! A police car comes and hits the side onto which he was latching. I see a spray of blood, and he's gone.

EDIT: Might as well share this here too:
The AI of the cops also caught me by surprise when they went inside a building to come after me. Close one too, as I didn't notice them until I heard one of them say, "Oh, why do they always get away!" and I turned around to find him and his partner walking out the door.

***WARNING: SPOILERS FOR "REVENGE" STORYLINE***

Okay, so I decided to take revenge on Dimitri, and Pegorino kills Kate. Right after the final mission where you have to kill Pegorino, the first phone call I receive is from an unknown caller. I answer, and it's KATE asking if I want to take her out on another date. What. The. FUCK.

Yep, finally done with it, but I think I'll explore the other ending as well. This one felt kind of... Empty.

***END SPOILERS***

Anyway, I like how the game gives you choices which change up the storyline. In a way, it sort of teaches a lesson. The dialogue that follows "revenge" choices is usually empty and makes you feel like you really missed out on what could have been something better. Of course, there are only two choices where you choose between revenge and sparing whoever's life in the storyline. Only the choice you make in one of the missions before the final mission determines what ending you get.

I'm one of the few people who chose to kill Playboy instead of Dwayne. Boy, am I glad.

Jesuszilla

Same here. I had to think only a little bit on that one. "On one hand, I kind of didn't like Dwayne from the start. He's kind of scary. On the other hand, Playboy gave me a phone, but.... This is GTA. Playboy has a nice house. Maybe if I kill him, I can take his house! He always seemed like a little bitch anyway."

Sure enough, I was right on that one. Damn I'm smart.

Saw nothing regarding that on Wikipedia (won't check GameFAQs since it's not already up), but that's an outcome I didn't bother to explore because I don't regret it one damn bit. I can choose to improve my friendship and get backup from the hood if I want, AND I have a fucking nice safehouse.

From what I've read (and seen) so far, when you get to the first revenge or spare situation, I think what the developers had in mind was Revenge, Deal, in that order.

I'll have to see the ending for myself though, but I will have to replay everything from the first revenge situation up to that point, which is a lot more than you think.

DMK

Choose Playboy X as well. For Some reason from the first time I did that Blown cover misson...I'd have to kill him.

His attitude period and lack of care for a former friend really pushed it, but hey nice new crib!  :D

Sparing Dwayne's old GF payed off as well. Got an easy side misson from her and got a couple hundred bucks for beating up on her abuseing BF.

Jesuszilla

Aw man, really? I decided to kill her, as well as everyone else who I was given the choice to kill up to that point.
