Yeah, you heard me right.  I'm posting an article that logically doesn't make sense for me to be posting it.  I figured I'd beat Neon to the punch and punch myself in the face.  But I'll do a little more besides provide a link to this story, I've got some things to say of my own in regards to the actual interview content.

QuoteG4: Oh! People are going to love that quote. (laughs) I have to ask you, why do you think it was always difficult for developers when Fox got out of the Arwing. Fox is a pilot, but they'd always get him out of...like the tank, the tank was cool, but it still felt like an Arwing - Why do you think people wanted to take him out of being a pilot and have him run around on foot?

Cuthbert: I think that's all Miyamoto.  Whenever I speak to Miyamoto about Star Fox, he says it's not meant to be just a flying, sci-fi shooting game. It's meant to be anything we want to think up. But the core fans don't want that, but Miyamoto doesn't really care about that. He wants to make what he wants to make, so he just goes ahead and gets it done.

It's pretty clear from this statement that Miyamoto does whatever the fuck he wants at Nintendo.  He said it wasn't meant to be a flying, sci-fi shooting game.  What?  That's all the series has ever been, and Adventures was easily considered the worst of the bunch simply because it detracted from that heavily (that and it was a hijacked project).

But in this case, what does he want from what he describes as a "flying, sci-fi shooting game"?  RPG elements?  Character depth and development as well as a serious plot that involves common life instead of flying around and blowing shit up with lasers?  You can't really change Star Fox around entirely.

Thus, I've constructed "Miyamoto's Nintendo":

- F-Zero is not just a racing game.  It's whatever the developers want it to be, which ends up being, well, a RACING GAME.
- Mario is not just a platformer game.  It's whatever the developers want it to be, which ends up being a platformer of sorts if not some party title or another kart racing game.
- Zelda is not just an action\adventure hack'n'slash game.  There's some serious plot in all that rehashing.
- Metroid is not just an exploring\shooting game.  Even though that's Samus' job and has been since the late 1980s
- Star Fox is not just a flying shooter game.  Even though the only time they deviated from it had it's only saving grace deemed by the fanbase to be the eternally annoying Krystal character.

Also:
QuotePeople like those furries a little too much. (laughs)
I'll admit, I don't read fanfiction.  Don't own a fursuit or any of that, there's never been any kind of convention (not even a video game tournament worth going to that wasn't a Madden game) around here.

I had already "beaten you to the punch" by five minutes.

We don't need two of the same thread, delete this one and make your post in the other one.

Why do that when I can just use the merge function?
