Marking the debut of Steam functioning on any next generation console, the features shipping in the PS3 version of Portal 2 include cross platform play (PC/Mac vs. PS3) for multiplayer games, persistent cloud-based storage of PS3 saved games, and cross platform chat (PC/Mac and PS3).

In addition, those who purchase Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3 may unlock a Steam Play (PC & Mac) copy of Portal 2 at no additional cost by linking their PSN and Steam accounts.

"We made a promise to gamers at E3 that Portal 2 for the PlayStation 3 would be the best console version of the product," said Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "Working together with Sony we have identified a set of features we believe are very compelling to gamers. We hope to expand upon the foundation being laid in Portal 2 with more Steam features and functionality in DLC and future content releases."

"We designed the Portal 2 PS3 experience to be very straightforward for gamers," said Josh Weier, project lead on Portal 2 at Valve. "PS3 gamers will be able to simply drop the Blu-Ray disc in the PS3, link to their Steam account from inside the game, and all their Steam friends (on PC and Mac) will be visible and accessible for chat and game invites."

This is a copy paste of a post I made at Guild that I am only posting here because JZ threatened to rape my family to death if I didn't.

I saw a 10 minute long Portal 2 trailer today at PAX East. Spoilers ahead:

[spoiler]Cave Johnson, the founder of Aperture Science, is in this game. The guy at the booth said they just announced this but I'm pretty sure that was revealed a while ago. Nonetheless, I know for sure that this is new knowledge: J.K. Simmons will be voicing Cave!!!!! Cave seems to be limited to appearing in prerecorded voice clips that play during the various tests, as he is supposed to have died in 1976. This is all speculation of course, and he could very well make another form of appearance. He's got a bunch of great lines, including references to a preying mantis DNA injection program.

Stephen Merchant is voicing a an AI that seems to serve the same role as GlaDOS did in the first game, except he seems to actually care about your survival. But again, this is only based on what I saw so far, so that could change. Anyway, the AI is very funny, and his statements revealed the following: you (the protagonist, Chell from the first game) have been in some kind of hibernation for a very long time. There is discussion of brain damage to subjects in hibernation longer than 9 months, and he indicates you have been under for a great magnitude of time. He also said that there were about 1,000 (or 10,000, I'm not sure) other test subjects in hibernation, and indirectly indicated that they were all dead. Much like Cave, he's got some great lines.[/spoiler]

By the way Portal 2 has a hat/other pointless addons DLC store in game, at launch. Some people were very, VERY upset by this.

To them I say get over it, it's just some fucking hats and pointless gestures in co-op.



Now complaining about a four hour game costing 45 dollars I can understand though.
