None of that new stuff has been added to the SFF or anything. I just took a screen for positioning reference and then slapped stuff onto it. Ignore those numbers on the side.


Green bars are the guard meters. Those little icons are win icons.

(From left to right):
Cheap KO, Normal KO, Special KO, Super KO, Perfect KO


The message boxes will be transparent, and yes I have previewed what it would look like and I loved the result.

The timer font reminds me of a game like Darkstalkers, which would be fine if you were making a Darkstalkers game.
A lot can be said about a font, and it should reflect the theme of the game.  E.G. the combo counter font is very techno/retro given the boxiness of it.

What I'm trying to say is, the lifebars and status text look like they came from two completely different games.

Make the lifebars more like the message boxes!!
Just take the border styles and make them the same, if you get my drift.

Also, part of the reason your lifebars don't look so good right now is because you haven't put anything in them Tongue (go put in some portraits!)
Also regarding the in-match portraits, I know there's that hexagonal border made for it, but see how it looks when only the bottom-left area of the portrait is cropped to the border. (flipped for player2)

Portraits aren't there because we don't have the damn art for them yet.

As for the lifebars, I REALLY don't feel like re-designing those (or the message boxes, for that matter).



I also don't see what you're trying to get at with that last statement as I see no problem.
