It's from Wrecking Crew where it was called the "Magic Hammer". Guess what, it let you float in that game by jamming A or B like a madman.

It's obscure enough I'm not surprised not many people are getting the reference.

Do you want some 11-year old calling you 'gay'?  I thought not.  Actions speak louder than words, and I don't want 11 year old idiots speaking louder than actions.

Heck most things with headsets now have a MUTE function, they could easily add both.

Must -everything- have voice chat nowadays to even be accepted?  I'd rather play brawl, not listen to some I AM A FUCKING n00b TO THE INTERNET BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW THAT n00b IS SPELLED WITH A ZERO AND PRONOUNCED "NOOH-BEE" whine about his life going "wrong" in the middle of a game (that seriously has happened.  I was playing CS:S the other day (because I was curious) and some idiot was whining about his life.  I head-shotted the guy while he was talking 'cause I wanted to hear him flip out.

Why?  No matter how much you talk back, you'll just end up as 'gay' in the other guy's mind.  It'll be the chain reaction, and soon everybody will think you're gay.

I'd rather avoid the mess.  Voice chat is simply something I don't do.

So you could ask at the end of match if you want another.

To make alliances in free-for all by talking to one person alone/manipulating everyone against each other.

Likewise to communicate strats in Team Battles. Having 4 simple expressions with the taunt button isn't going to be able to communicate: Split up the Ice Climbers and kill Nana, and after that distract Popo while I deal with Ike.

Oh, and as I stated before, most games with Voice Chat these days have the ability to mute a user you don't want to hear, I like how you completely ignored that point.

Just because you wouldn't use it doesn't mean that no one will, stop using yourself for Universal Quantification it's one of the worse logical fallacies you can make.

Overall, I actually like this update, don't think I don't. I'm glad they scrapped a leader board, but it'd be nice to add people to your friend list after you fight them in random if you decided they were a good enough player, no big deal.
